There have been a lot of cool tech gadgets introduced in the last year, and I have been felling left out. Maybe I should get the new iPad air, or the new iPhone 5s with a fingerprint sensor. Since I was feeling I was being left behind in the digital dust; I wondered if other people were in the same boat as me. I wondered if people were still buying devices that I figured were way past their prime. I wondered if you could still buy a VCR, and if people were really using them. Well lo and behold you can still buy a VCR, and people are still using them! ![]() I found this on Amazon! ![]() And people are still using them! I must say that I am more surprised in the fact that people are still using VCRs than I am that you can still buy them. I say more power to you if you can still use technology that others may think are way too outdated. This got me to thinking. I have a tablet and smart phone that work just fine. Those folks may have just saved me over $1000 dollars (at least for a few weeks anyway).
What about you? Do you think you have to have the latest and greatest, or do you hold out until your device becomes unusable?

![]() I grew up as a lanky kid born in Chicago, and growing up in Meridian, Mississippi. I have the benefit of both Midwestern and Southern roots, and a minority perspective. Those culturally rich perspectives have become the backdrop for me and my identifying with the common person through political and social commentary. Before and after college, I served my country in the Army for ten years. My military career deepened my resolve to stay connected to my country and community through civic involvement. Through writing, I hope to touch those around me and leave my footprint on the world.
